Researchers rolled in about 400 obese adults on a standard life style more or less. They put them all on exercise-more and eat leas program for more than 8 months. The result was that most of these people lost weight. However, those with higher stress level and irregular sleeping habits were found to show lesser weight loss. Their counterparts with better sleeping habits and lower stress levels, showed better results.

The amount and time of sleep here was found to have a direct impact on the amount of weight lost. People, who slept for at least 6 hours a night but not more than 8 hours, achieved their goal of losing 10 pounds easily. When compared to their anxious counterparts, with more stress level and sleeping difficulties, had trouble getting to their target of losing ten pounds.

How can one relate weight loss to sleep and stress, you may wonder? It has been found that chronic stress levels boost the feel-hungry hormones. This leads to these people reaching for all those goodies stores in their fridge or kitchen for caloric comfort and to ease their anxiety. It does feel good after having those favorite cookies of yours, doesn’t it?

What they don’t realize is that those high caloric foods are slowly adding inches on their waist line. The more the anxiety, the more strong cravings you have and you end up eating more of those comforting calorie high foods.

Another food you can add in your breakfast is Oatmeal with a dash of honey.
